At St Dunstan’s RC Primary School, we believe every child is unique, valued by God and deserves the opportunity to flourish. Guided by our Catholic faith and our DUNS values of Discipleship, Unity, Nurture and Service, we are committed to creating an inclusive school where every child feels they belong and can achieve their potential.

Our approach to SEND begins with high-quality teaching, early identification and high expectations for all. Wherever possible, children are supported to learn alongside their peers in the mainstream classroom, with additional support, reasonable adjustments and personalised plans provided according to their individual needs.

We work in partnership with children, parents and carers, staff and external professionals to identify barriers to learning, celebrate strengths and ensure that provision is appropriate and regularly reviewed. We follow the graduated approach of Assess, Plan, Do, Review to monitor progress and adapt support.

The Hive – our SEND inclusion provision

The Hive is our additional inclusion provision. 

It offers a supportive environment that recognises individual strengths, needs and learning styles. Support is tailored to each pupil and may focus on communication and social interaction, emotional regulation, independence, developing learning skills and managing the demands of the school day. Through personalised strategies and close collaboration between staff and families, we aim to build confidence, remove barriers to learning and enable pupils to participate in  learning and the wider life of our school.

Our SENDCo's

Mrs Bailey is the Headteacher at St Dunstan’s RC Primary School and holds the NASENCO qualification. She plays an important role in supporting pupils with SEND, working closely with Miss Wong (SENDCo), staff and families to ensure that pupils’ individual needs are understood and appropriate support is in place to help every child thrive. Miss Wong oversees the coordination of SEND provision at St Dunstan’s. Her responsibilities include supporting staff to meet pupils’ needs, advising on appropriate interventions, monitoring provision, working with parents and carers, liaising with external agencies and supporting successful transitions between classes and schools.

We encourage parents and carers with concerns about their child’s learning or development to speak to their child’s class teacher in the first instance. We also hold SEND Coffee afternoons every Tuesday at 2:45pm, and we invite all to come and discuss any concerns or questions that you may have.
