NSPCC / ChildLine Visit
The majority of children at St. Dunstan’s feel safe and content. They feel protected in our friendly and kind environment. However, some students might feel unsafe and/or neglected, for they may have carried worries from various places such as home. This is why ChildLine is always there for us. They visited upper Ks2 and gave us some valuable tips and advice.
They told us never to hesitate and always be confident when wanting to discuss the problems that weigh us down. We spoke about different difficulties that have been troubling us and who to share our situations with. They discussed with us about the people you could trust and share your problems with. These could be parents, family and older siblings. These are called trusted adults. Other people who you could talk with are the members at ChildLine.
They also said that the conversations would remain confidential, unless someone else had to be involved.
Overall, ChildLine said that they would always be there for us in times of need.

E-Safety
E-Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at St Dunstan’s. We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any e-Safety incidents are recorded and managed in accordance with our e-Safety Policy. E-Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.
We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the e-Safety message is consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.
It’s essential to be realistic - banning the internet or technology will not work and it often makes a child less likely to report a problem. Education around safe use is essential.
E-Safety Group
As part of our efforts to promote E-Safety we will be launching an E-Safety group this summer term. This group will lead E-Safety across the school and it will also have the responsibility for communicating appropriate and relevant information to parents, carers, children and the community about E-Safety and what actions our school will be taking to improve policy and practice. The group will meet regularly and will comprise of members of staff, the E-Safety nominated Governor, and children from across year 5 and 4. This group will provide opportunities for the children to suggest their own activities and agendas and will be able to keep everyone informed by communicating on the E-Safety page of our school website and in the newsletter.
