Cornerstones Day Centre Manchester
Cornerstones day centre has been around for 25 years and was founded by a local priest and nun, who realised that the poor and hungry needed their help and fast. They built the centre from scratch and it all started in a church car park. Now they have the biggest centre in Manchester and are the only ones to offer shelter for the homeless. They run solely on donations from organisations, schools, public and churches. They have a fantastic group of staff but mostly volunteers (some of who used to be clients of the centre.) They offer everything from hair cuts, food, shelter, housing and benefit advice, to just a friendly ear and a hug.
